1932-2024

Dad passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024. Now he is reunited with his beloved wife of 67 years, Thelma who passed away April 6, 2021. Dad truly loved his family and will be deeply missed by his children, Carla (Larry), John (Jill) and Hugh Jr (Karen). He was loving Big Papa to his granddaughter, Kelly, and his great-grandchildren, Alex, Rose and Christopher. Predeceased by his parents, Chris and Etta Schomburg and his brother, Carl (late Eileen).

For 33 years, dad taught history and economics at Clarke Road and H.B. Beal Secondary Schools. While there, he enjoyed coaching the football teams. During this time, he also refereed high school and Intercollegiate basketball games.

Dad had a passion for sports. In his youth he played on many champion baseball teams and was the quarterback of his school football teams. He was an avid golfer and a long time member of Sunningdale Golf Club. In his later years he was a member of Huff N' Puff where he played tennis and enjoyed playing slopitch to his nineties. Dad also had fun playing ping pong with his family until his passing.

In retirement, Mom and Dad escaped the Canadian winters by travelling to Alabama. There they joined their friends for golf and many social activities.

Cremation entrusted to Simple Choice Cremation - London. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or service. As an expression of sympathy, a donation to War Amps would be greatly appreciated.
